Compare the actual supplier grade, extraction and refinement, oxidation controls, complete fatty-acid and minor-component record, sensory role and finished formula. The botanical name alone cannot establish which oil is better for a person or product.

There is no universal winner
Both are plant oils composed mainly of triglycerides, but their exact fatty-acid and minor-component profiles vary. A comparison drawn from one paper, supplier sheet or harvest cannot be safely converted into a permanent ranking.
The right question is not which fruit sounds rarer. It is which documented grade performs the intended role in the complete formula.
Processing belongs in the name of the material
Cold-pressed and unrefined can preserve more of a raw material’s native odor, color and minor compounds, but they may also create formulation challenges. Refined oils can offer consistency, paler color or lower odor. Neither route is automatically virtuous.
A useful product record identifies the actual form and explains why it was chosen. Marketing that celebrates cold pressing without supplier documentation or finished-formula purpose is incomplete.
Composition is not a finished-product claim
Fatty-acid percentages and tocopherol measurements can help formulators understand a raw material. They do not tell a customer how the finished blend will spread, oxidize, feel or perform on their skin.
This is why Anvaira will not publish a simple vitamin-E superiority statistic. Source materials, analytical methods and units must be genuinely comparable before a numerical claim is meaningful.
What to ask before buying either
Look for the full ingredient list, clear storage and use directions, packaging that limits unnecessary air and light exposure, and claims that stay within the evidence. If a brand discusses one oil as though it erases every formulation question, the story is too neat.
Patch testing may still be sensible for a new cosmetic, especially if a person has a history of reactions. Botanical does not mean universally compatible.
Why Anvaira is studying prickly pear
For Kesar Dew, prickly pear is a material direction within a larger lipid architecture. Anvaira is pursuing a documented cold-pressed, unrefined grade because processing and sensorial character are part of the brief.
It remains only if the final formula benefits. Rarity, cost and a beautiful origin story cannot rescue a material that makes the gesture less elegant.
A botanical name begins the evaluation. It does not finish it.
